Lieutenant-Colonel (retired) Provençal was Chief of Staff, Private Secretary and Principal Aide-de-Camp to the Lieutenant Governor of Québec until his retirement in 2024. Previously, he held the positions of Sergeant-at-Arms and Head of Protocol at the Quebec National Assembly. Earlier in his career, he was administrator of his father's Ford car dealership.
During his career, he has had the opportunity to develop his commitment to public service and protocol excellence, notably by serving as Deputy Chief of Protocol at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Montreal. He was also Chief of Protocol for the Canadian Olympic Committee at both the London Summer and Sochi Winter Olympic Games.
A guardian of tradition, fueled by his career as a reservist and passionate about diplomacy, Mr. Provençal has worked with no fewer than six lieutenant governors. He has organized and overseen hundreds of major ceremonies and events attended by representatives of royal families, heads of state and government, parliamentarians, diplomats, representatives of various levels of government, military forces, police services and various associations.
A recipient of many honours, Mr. Provençal currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Fondation Québécoise des Vétérans. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Patro de Lévis, an organization that promotes the values of mutual aid, respect for people, accessibility, commitment and sustainability. He is also a member of the military committee of the Québec Garrison Club. He regularly collaborates with a number of organizations, offering advice on protocol.
